flake and rope

i haven't smoked any flake or rope yet. what's the idea behind pressing into flakes?

Doesn't dry out so fast, matures differently, enhances the number of the ways you can smoke pipe tobacco, makes it cool to prepare, makes you look like experienced smoker when you tell somebody.
