I got hold of some jewellers rouge a little while ago, and was wondering if someone could help:
Is the cut of rouge finer or rougher than tripoli? And also: would the red of the rouge sort of "colour" the wood? Is it actually worth having at all?

Rouge is no good. It will not only color the wood, it will color stems.
