Delrin Order

Post by SimeonTurner »

Hi all-

I'm looking to order a bunch of Delrin, and I was curious if anyone else was interested in going in on it with me. The cheapest I have found it is here:

http://www.sdplastics.com/acetal.html

At $.61/ foot for 5/16" stock, that's a pretty good deal, from what I have been able to tell.

Anyone else need to resupply and interested in doing a bulk order? They have a $75 minimum order rule on that site, so that's like 123 feet of Delrin, which might be just a bit more than I need, at the moment. I mean, I'm cranking out pipes for Chicago, but not THAT many pipes! LOL

Let me know if anyone is interested. :)

Online Metals has it for .64 a foot and no minimum order.

Delrin is a form of Acetal. Here is the link to the 5/16 (0.3125) Black Acetal at Online Metals: 5/16 Acetal

And McMaster Carr has 5/16 Delrin for about .74 a foot with no minimum order:

By the time you ship the stuff twice (to you and then to everyone interested) I would think you'd have eaten any savings from buying it in larger quantities...

No doubt. I thought I would post the idea in case there were a bunch of people interested in ordering. It would take a pretty big group order to realize savings, but if folks were interested, I'm willing to do the leg work for it.

If not, no biggie. I'll just order from McMaster and call it good. :)

With delrin you're going to have a hard time realizing costs with a group buy. It's just so darn inexpensive to begin with. Once you factor in multiple shipping costs, the savings have evaporated, and you've probably spent more.
