Bakelite

Post by pennsyscot »

What is the difference between catalin and bakelite rod? Where do you purchase bakelite rod? What is the cost? Why would I want to use bakelite as opposed to other stem materials? Is it durable? The bakelite items I have experience with (old electrical stuff) has been brittle, is the new stuff different? Do bakelite stems require delrin tenons, or is bakelite strong enough to machine a tenon? Thanks for your reply, Scot

Todd has mentioned using it a few times. I'm interested to hear his comments as to why he prefers it over.... whatever.
