I'd love one on my shaping disc!

So the blade actually has to touch the skin to trigger the brake?! Yipes. As far as pipemaking equipment, it'd be nice on a bandsaw.

Re: Amazing tool technology
That is some crazy technology! I can't believe it can sense the electro-conductivity of the item being sawed...I know afew shop teachers who would wish they had had one of those back in the day...LOL

I wonder if damp wood would set it off.

I imagine we'll have such technology on most power tools soon. The reason is that Ryobi just lost a huge lawsuit up in Boston (I think), where I guy cut his hand on a table saw and then sued Ryobi for negligence on account of their not having the Sawstop technology. If that trend continues (and in our litigious country, I assume it will), we'll see more companies fiscally forced into adopting such technology.

According to the OSHA training guy I was forced to listen to all day Tuesday, yes. He said pressure-treated stuff will indeed set it off because it's damp enough to be slightly conductive.buster wrote:I wonder if damp wood would set it off.
He also said the inventor tested it on his own finger once the hot dog test worked...
Re: Amazing tool technology
It has a temporary shut off for when using damp wood. Kind of defeats the object of the safety feature i suppose if it can be shut off but from what i gather it has to be done every time you turn the saw on.
