Having just acquired a drill press, I set to work today fixing broken stems by replacing the broken tenons with delrin tenons. First one was a train wreck--but it smokes. On the second, however, I got everything drilled at good angles, and the stem meets the shank evenly. Problem was that the tenon was a little too long. So in my infinite wisdom I decided to drill a little deeper into the mortise, instead of just sanding down the tenon. Well, I got what I deserved: the drill wasn't in exactly the same place, and now the mortise is just slightly too large for the tenon (which is already epoxied). The stem fits, it just falls out pretty easily. Anyone know of a way to correct this, without redoing the stem?
Thanks,
Tom Haley

Yep, exact same mistake--at least I'm in good company!
I used the method Todd recommended, and it worked just fine.
Thanks ,
