Has anyone used a mix of honey and charcoal powder applied to a new finished

As a matter of fact...

yes I have.

And the results were....

after about 20 smokes, it was caked up just like any pipe. But it did smoke with a pleasant taste right from the get go. So it gets the Sasquatch seal of approval for being cheap and easy and no less effective than any other method.

The theory is that a cake will build up more quickly because of the honey mixture. I'm not sure that has been proven tho.

I've done it, but I'm not too crazy about it. It will help cake form more quickly, but the honey seems to make a rough uneven surface when it bubbles up, so the kake doesn't form evenly. I much prefer the carbon, buttermilk and sour cream mixture.
Cheers,

I beg to differ; buttermilk and charcoal tastes nothing like chipped beef on a shingle....
