Aplying carnauba on the plateaux bark

can someone please tell me how to aply carnauba on the plateaux bark and if I should polish with tripoli or not - thank You...

I don't put carnauba on the plateaux, I treat it like a rusticated pipe, which is to say I use a little shellac up there to good effect.

If you use carnauba on the plateaux, shave/scrape it into a fine powder, then use your finger to spread (I've used a q-tip as well). When you have a light dusting, somewhat like a light snowfall, use your heat gun to melt. It will spread, coat, produce a fine sheen and won't look as if it has glops of wax on the pipe.

I use both Blue Tripoli and Carnauba wax on the rustication and on the bark.
My procedure is simple, but takes time:
1\ After applying Tripoli, I use a small polishing wheel for Dremel. Basic, It'll spread the Tripoli. (Cloth Polishing Wheel)
2\ Then I use a nylon bristle brush also for Dremel. It'll remove all the remaining Tripoli. (Nylon Bristle Brush)
3\ Later on, regular polishing wheel in very low RPM.
4\ Carnauba wax goes on the same way of Tripoli, but of course, using a clean polishing wheel and brush.
Or you can even use the same brush if you want, but make sure it's very clean and there is no Tripoli on it.
To clean it I use denatured alcohol.

Ps.: But I'm considering to do what Sasquatch said depending how deep the rustication is.
The step 2\ can really consume time in such cases.

I like that little nylon bristle wheel too, Eder, but I dont find they last all that long, always losing hairs. But they do a good job of getting into funny little corners.

I've had no complaints at all on the dozen or more shellaced pipes I've sold, and some of them have been very heavily smoked. That's my basic treatment for anything that isn't smooth now. And it's fast, although that's not my prime concern.
