Finished another one today. The band is a pearlescent white acryllic. I got it too thin and unfortunately you can see briar through it because it's semi-transparent. The stem is ebonite. I'd love some overall feedback and am interested on technical criticisms on the billiard shape. Thanks.

Re: Straight Billiard
I really like this pipe- It is definitely a stunner. Finish is awesome/amazing. I also really like the bevel on the rim and the stain. Only thing I might change is to add a tiny bit more cant. But, I tend to like more cant than most so take that with a grain of salt.
You said you could see the briar through the acrylic. It looks like you cut a tenon on the shank and then added the ebonite/acrylic/ebonite for the extension. I think i can see a fine line where the ebonite of the extension meets the ebonite of the stem. I usually do the opposite and add the inlays on the stem. I have no idea which way is proper in the pipe world. Any Pros wanna shed some light on this?
Again great looking pipe- Trey

Re: Straight Billiard
It's a very handsome pipe, and the finish is superb.
For a "classic" billiard, I'd say it's maybe just a touch heavy. Most English pipes I've seen have a thinner shank, I reckon.
I would say a tiny bit more material could come off the bowl, down near where it connects with the stem. Could be a trick of the grain, but it looks just a little too "flowy" and not quite as sharply defined as it could be.
But to me, it's a very nice pipe, obviously a hand made, and obviously a good one.

ALL YOUR PIPE ARE BELONG TO US!
Re: Straight Billiard
I prefer to put any fancy additions on the shank. If the smoker breaks the stem and the pipe maker is not around it can be nearly impossible to make the pipe look as it did.
That is my opinion and I am sticking to it

It is a very handsome straight billiard, very English by my opinion. The grain looks perfectly positioned on the shape and the semi-transparency of the ring might give a interesting detail to this pipe.
Congrats on the fine work.

Re: Straight Billiard
This is a beautiful, classic shape. Reminds me of a very old, very classic Dunhill straight billiard. I like the somewhat thick shank and, in fact, I almost wish it was a little thicker (but I really like those old Dunhills and I'm surprised no one is really doing those shapes anymore--especially since Dunhill pipes/tobacco are defunct).
I can't really see the briar grain coming through the extension but from where I stand it looks really good. This is a really, really nice, classic looking pipe. Well done!

Re: Straight Billiard
I really like this pipe--very well done. I am also no expert, but in the second picture (I think), the shank looks like it has a bit too much taper, although I believe this is an illusion caused by the reflection of the line of dots in your oh-so-perfect mirror finish. Doe anyone else see this (having others criticize my critique might help train my eye)? I also concur with Bigfoot about adding just a little more definition, but I like the heavy feel of the piece.
The worst thing about this pipe, though is that it's English. Around here, people only like DHPM authorized Danish styles (that whole business was so funny, anyone else remember that?). J/k, it's a good thing in my opinion. Great work!
Edit: I also like the backdrop!
