Shaping on lathe

I dont know what the shape is called but it looks like a top with sharper edges. How would I go about doing something like that? I think someone wrote use your lathe like an etch a sketch.

Like this? If so, it's a bulldog. Just slap a block in the lathe and make it look like that bowl. Good luck!

Im sorry I should have been more clear. I am talking about the stem with a conical shape that looks like a top with sharp edges.

Don't try using your lathe like an Etch-A-Sketch. Use it like wood lathe to get the shape you want.

Oh, well, if you cut tools that are close to the curves you like it might make it easier for you. That's just one of those things that you have to do.
