Forstner bit question

Post by tigercasual »

I purchased a $20 set of Ryobi Forstner bits from Home Depot. So, does anyone have any experience with these bits? Then, I did a search on Amazon.com for "precision" Forster bits- the only thing that came up were serrated bits. Has anyone out there ever tried the serrated Forstner bits? Are they better, worse, no difference?

Cheers,
TC

That set should serve you well. IIRC Ryobi makes a good bit. The ones I usually buy are Freud from Lowes.

The serrated bits or "saw tooth" bits cut a little more aggressively and leave a nicer finish on the wall of the hole, so you should be good on both counts as long as the steel is decent in 'em.
