Honing Compound instead of tripoli?

Just curious if I could use
http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.a ... 1,43072%20 in place of tripoli? Not sure if it's the same, but it seems like similar stuff.

That particular compound, and most green compounds, contain quite a bit of chromium. So trace amounts on pipe stems etc is not a good thing. On top of that, it will fill any pore or scratch with green residue, basically you run a pretty significant risk of doing more harm than good with that stuff. When you buy that product, it actually has all sorts of warnings about not breathing the dust and not eating forkfuls of it and not getting it on your hands etc.
BUT
It is ridiculously ridiculous for making things sharp.
