Loose Tenon

Hi Folks,

I was working away at my first pipe, which you can see in the photo below, and I realized that the stem is probably too loose. Is there any clever way of fixing this, or is the choice between living with it or getting a new stem? FYI, it's a pre-molded vulcanized rubber stem I got from Pimo.

Thanks,
Greg

You can expand the tenon a little by heating it up and stuff a drill-bit smooth-end up the hole. Then cool it off and extract the bit (put some wax on the bit, maybe). Choose a bit that just won't quite fit when you start.

Thanks! That's just the sort of thing I was looking for. I'll give it a try.

Pimo sells an excellent stem tightener kit. Works great!
