Made this pipe as a gift for a close friend of mine who works in humanitarian relief in South Sudan... the briar had a few blemishes, which actually worked out well for the subject matter of the pipe. The stand is maple, as is the stem. I called it, "Africa"

I'd take a good 3/4" off the top and bottom of the button - it's a touch on the clunky side.

I was planning on introducing myself before posting anything, but of course I was sucked into surfing the gallery first and I couldn't help but comment. This is inspired! You have suggested the shape of the continent with such finesse. It is a beautifully considered pipe. Thanks for sharing it.

What struck me is that the profile of the bowl looks like a human face. I love the stand. Uncial was the perfect font for this one. I'm sure your friend will cherish this gift forever.

Did you use a delrin/teflon tenon or did you go for something else?
