What epoxy glue to use??? HELP NEEDED!!!

Post by ND Pipes »

So far i was using a UHU plus endfest 300... it is 300kg/cm2 epoxy 2 components glue... it was o.k. until yesterday i found out that one of my pipes snapped on a shank extension even if i had a plug inside... so, i don't trust the glue anymore...
can somebody please tell me what is the best epoxy glue to use... (i can't remember one i was reading long time ago - some guys were talking about that glue... an industrial one or something - not sure) ... i need a glue i can trust with...
PLEASE HELP...
regards
daniel

Hi Daniel,
at the moment I use the 2-component glue of Janzen http://www.janzen-pfeifen.de/frameset.html. I cannot say whether is better, but it is in the pipe construction already very long in use. I had up to now no problems with it, however, it frees itself at high temperatures (stem bend), but many make this.

I use T-88 and haven't had any failures with it to date. You can get it at woodcraft.com.

I am using this product from ebay UK 370535352407. It works well but does not like to be heated, as when doing contrast staining.

Somewhere on here is a link placed by Walle for a German glue company that he buys from, you might want to search for it or send him a pm.

Consider a glue in the urethane family. Sold here in the states as "Gorilla Glue" as well as other brand names. This stuff will glue almost anything.

You didn't mention what materials you are bonding.

If you are bonding wood-to-wood, I would use Titebond III. If bonding dis-similar materials, epoxy is used by a lot of folks.
