Stabilized Wood

Question: I just received some Stabilized Spalted Maple but find it to be very heavy compared to un-stablized dried Maple. It's probably about the same weight as fresh green Maple. I presume the extra weight is the result of the stabilizing agent having been forced into the wood. Once stabilized, is it ready to cut or is it necessary to let it dry for a time? bob gilbert

Once stabilized it should be ready to cut.
The stabilizing agent is usually some type of polymer resin that is pulled into the wood in a vacuum chamber.

Bob,
Do you make stems out of stabilized wood or just stem inlays and extensions?
