I square mine every time, except the few times I didn't. Those times I found they got a little squirrelly on me when I was drilling them. It's too easy for me to mess things up if they're not sitting right in the chuck. Plus, "It's hip to be square".

Kurt,

If you don't square the block how do you mark the pipe? I've just been finding the center line. If I can just get the engineering down I think some of my pipes would be worth trying to sell.

I don't actually do much marking at all. About the most I do is some guide lines on the side of the block to show airway so I can line up all the holes. Most of the time I don't really WANT the pipe centered in the block due to either the grain or something.
