Fangorn Shapeshifter

Post by ND Pipes »

...Fangorn Shapeshifter...
this pipe has two bowls - when finished smoking one of the bowls you can change it and continue smoking the other... the body is one and contains the inverted calabash system...
:)
mouthpiece is a handcut acrylic... bowls are from one block - body and bottom from the other :)

Looks like Walle's "steam funk" has some competition. It kind of reminds me of a little dinosaur. Again, not exactly the most practical pipe, but very well executed. The lines are crisp and deliberate, the finishes are excellent, and everything looks well engineered. Very well done.

So, are these abstract pipes your niche or was such a radical departure from the norm just something fun to do?

Very cool. Not knowing much or anything about the calabash system I'm not even sure I follow what's going on. But if you're using Fangorn as a Lord of the Rings reference by chance I'll give you extra points just for that. I prefer the rusticated bowl. I really like your stain color too.

I'm not sure I'd call this a critique, but the only thing that catches my eye a little funky is the white ring. I think a more earth tone or less "plasticy" color would have enhanced it more by not sticking out so much.

Love the curves. Love the idea. Great execution.

I had an idea for a "double smoker" not too long ago an my wife shot it down stating that it looked ridiculous. This makes me want to make it anyway :)

That is awesome! I saw something similarish from Maigurs Knets recently. I really like the execution of yours!

Very very nice. How does the "foot" attach at the bottom? Is it threaded?
