Very cool. Not knowing much or anything about the calabash system I'm not even sure I follow what's going on. But if you're using Fangorn as a Lord of the Rings reference by chance I'll give you extra points just for that. I prefer the rusticated bowl. I really like your stain color too.
I'm not sure I'd call this a critique, but the only thing that catches my eye a little funky is the white ring. I think a more earth tone or less "plasticy" color would have enhanced it more by not sticking out so much.

I had an idea for a "double smoker" not too long ago an my wife shot it down stating that it looked ridiculous. This makes me want to make it anyway
