Morta for Sale.
Morta for Sale.
With all the hassles of setting up a sandblaster I had to move my morta stocks into storage. Well today I finally got some new storage shelves in place and was able to lay out my morta again. I know lots of people have been wanting some morta so since I had to move every single block anyway it seemed the perfect time to put some aside for sale.
There is one batch of offcuts which are suitable either for a very tiny pipe or more likely for use as shank extensions and stem accents etc, then there are 6 batches of blocks. All the batches have been sorted by weight, there is a 2kg airmail limit so most of these batches come in at around 1.5kgs. Please note that if you order more than one batch then you will have to pay full price on both batches as I cannot combine them into one box. Rulers are in the pictures to give you an idea of sizes. Just like briar morta can hide flaws, while I have done my best to make sure there are no gaping holes in the middle of the block please be aware I do not have xray vision so I cannot gurantee that every block will make a saleable pipe, heck I have to put up with shitty holes sometimes so you have to aswell
Where possible I have tried to show the "worst" side of each block.
All prices have been calculated to INCLUDE shipping charges (calculated for the US, check with me if you are in a different country it might be cheaper) and each batch has been priced indivudually to take account of it's weight and the size/potential/grain of each block. Prices are discounted from my usual per block rate because they are in batches.
Please post here with your interest before PM'ing me so we can see what is sold etc.
Hope that's all clear, any complaints or problems, tough
Lets begin!
Offcuts (O) $70 SOLD
Batch A $150 SOLD
Batch B $140 SOLD
Batch C $150
Batch D $120 RESERVED PENDING PAYMENT
Batch E $140 SOLD
Batch F $120 SOLD

Re: Morta for Sale.
My first box showed up yesterday, Thanks Chris !
This is the first I've handled Morta, it is much lighter than I expected.
Do you have any more info on this wood? Where is it from, any guesses to how old it is ?
Is it ready to turn, or does it need to dry further ?

Surprised they both didn't arrive together, they were posted the same day
The wood comes from England and is around 10 thousand years old. It should be ready for turning but I would recommend you give it a bit of time to adjust to the humidity in your workshop both before turning and after turning but before final finishing (it has a tendency to move a little after being cut so a day or two rest before you do any final sanding will allow this to happen and adjustments to be made.)
Re: Morta for Sale.
Thanks for the info Chris. The second box arrived yesterday. No telling why there was a delay
If I had the funds, I'd grab everything you have left!
