Would this metal lathe work?

Post by Mark Beattie »

I feel it's time to upgrade from my current wood turning Maxi-Lathe to a metal lathe. The link is for a metal lathe that is in my price range at the moment. Would this be lacking in any way to drill and turn parts of my stummels?

All the accessories from my current lathe are easily interchangeable with this lathe. What are your thoughts?

Thanks,

Mark

You could cut stems on that lathe, but probably not stummels. A 9 inch swing is about the minimum for cutting stummels.

Hi Rad,

Would you need the extra two inches for specific pipe shapes or just regular stummels in general? I haven't had a block yet that was over 5 inches.
