Hello!

I'm a new pipe maker from Brazil and this is my third pipe made after reading articles about pipe making and study.
I made two pipes before this one but they really didn't worked well.

Please comment!

Congratulations on your 3rd.

The one thing that jumps out at me on this pipe is the joint between the stem and the shank - it appears to be about 5 degrees off the rest of the pipe. This could be cause be the shank not being round - is it oval? At any rate it looks very strange in the pictures - I'd be curious to see the tenon.

Your finish is nice - good grain showing clearly, nice and shiny.

The button looks big by about 50% in both directions, and a little more of the "bulge" could come out of the stem - a straighter line along the top and bottom looks a lot more pro.

But you are well on your way. :D

Hello!

Thank for you comments. They are very helpful.

I did try to understand about the 5° angle on the shank/stem but I could not!
The shank is oval, yes. But is not a perfect oval shape.

Thank you again!

Bemvindo!

Your shaping of the bowl looks very good and the grain and your finishing of it is wonderful. Congratulations; it's quite nice, especially for only your third.

Is there a pipe-making community in Brasil? How do you get your briar and tools?

Hello Hudson!
Thank you for your comments.

There's no pipemaking community in Brazil. But we have many
pipe smokers here!

I get my briar blocks from Jaume - Spain. I have many tools for wood working.
I did make Design college and now I work in a furniture fabric/design office.

I'ts very nice to make things by my self! I love to design, but I'm loving to make pipes plus design.

Thank you!
