bamboo

Post by jogilli »

Ok, well I've put this off about as long as I can.. as I'm down to only a few sticks of bamboo.. I need some.. I emailed Mingdong the other day for a mall order to my liking but I cant use $1000 worth of bamboo.. somewhere around 50 white bamboo and 30 black-bamboo will do me for a few years.. I've looked on ebay and don't really like what is being offered.

I live overseas and have an APO (Military) post office box... so my queston is this.. is there enough interest on the forum to get a $1000 order together?

50 white bamboo .. $75
30 black bambbo .. $90
shippping I'll guess $15
your trouble ????
total $180 for me..

is there another $820 interest on the forum? and will somebody run with this? I'm not even after straight bamboo, as I really like my slightly bent and crooked

james

Mingdong's reply

My business is wholesale only. Each order should be worth at least 1000USD.
.Here is the price list.
White-bamboo 1.5USD
black-bamboo 3USD
ox horn 18USD(never to expand when hot and to shrink when cold)
You could sell the rest to your pipemaker friends if you do not need 1000USD goods
Best Regards

I'd be interested. I'd want to do 40 white and 40 black. Total for that before shipping would be $180.

I won't be able to do this until the first of November, so if the order won't be placed until then, count me in.

I'm in.

I'd get about $200 worth, exact proportions flexible.

I'd be in for $100 of whatever. I've never worked with it, so I won't be picky.

I'd be stoked to get some horn, and some black bamboo. I could probably do $150 worth total.

I'm interested in both kinds of bamboo and some horn. Probably in the ballpark of $200.

Ok, I'll take this one. I dont want to put it off too long, Uber has mentioned the first of November. Thats opening weekend of deer season, so it is no good for me. How about a deadline the middle of the second week of November. So, all orders by November 10. That is 5 weeks from now.
Anyone have a good reason to do it earlier or later than that ?

Sounds perfect. Thanks for taking the reins on this one.

I'll put in my official order for 50 white and 30 black. Shipping to you and then to us to be calculated later. As soon as you have a total I'll get the money out to you.

Thanks again, this is perfect timing for me. :D

That deadline sounds perfect. Thanks a lot, Ryan!

Definitely 40 white and 40 black here.

Anyone know what size the horn pieces are? Better yet, does anyone have experience with the horn from this supplier? How's the quality and how many extensions can you normally get from a single piece?

I'm interested, as well, in both kinds of bamboo and some horn. I'll figure out quantities and let you guys know. I should be good for $150, or so. Thanks for putting this together, fellas!

You will normally be working with only the tip of the horn. You'll probably get one extension per horn. You can get multiple rings. Just be ready to live with the most awful pipe making smell ever. Smells like you're branding cattle (in my case, smells like I'm branding cattle in my basement).

Oh, and unless this guy is selling REALLY old horn, it will move (shrink/expand) with temp/humidity changes (unless it has been stabilized...?).
