Mid-West Meetup

Post by d.huber »

Calling all Mid-Western pipe makers! Anyone wanna do a meetup? We could have a few drinks, make a pipe, have a few laughs, and not necessarily in that order.

I'd be happy to host, however I have to admit that my shop isn't exactly big enough or tooled enough for 4+ people to work in. If there's interest for those around the great lakes area, do we have a volunteer who could host a get together effectively?

I was thinking maybe sometime in January or February for a meetup time. Thoughts?

Uber,

I would love to go through with something of this nature. I recently created a thread asking to see if there were any pipe makers/smokers in the mid-west area and there were a few who said they were!
I live in Michigan so I am more than willing. Please keep us posted about this!

Frank

Not much of a pipe maker, but a hell of a drinker, smoker and talker.

But I ain't in the Mid West, Atlanta here. So, if there is a Sourthern meet, let me know!

I would be happy to host a meetup at my shop/workshop, but not sure how many of us are close enough. I could possibly make some arrangements with a local hotel for some discounted rates.

Thanks for volunteering! Might be a little tough to get out there, but nothing that can't be overcome.

What do you other mid-west/great lakes pipesters think about meeting up at Premal's?

We might be able to make some sort of mini-pipemakers show at the shop and have a decent turnout of customers in addition to the tom-foolery in the workshop.

Premal's shop would be a great place to meet up. The mini show would be really cool too. I would definitely be interested.

Mini show would be epic. :)

Let's talk dates! I was thinking sometime post-Christmas, pre-Chicago show. Would we want to wait until March so everyone has a little chance to cool down from St. Louis?

After the holidays clears that busy time of the year. As to whether or not it is before the Chicago show of after doesn't make a difference to me. As long as it isn't during the Chicago show!

After St. Louis is fine with me if that works for Premal. My only thing is that after the first of the year, Saturdays and Sundays will be out.

Realistically, anything after Christmas works for me. I'm the manager of a Verizon store, so schedules are on lockdown from Black Friday through the end of the year. After that, my schedule is very flexible.

To get things rolling a bit, I'll be happy to take on schedule coordination. I'm thinking this would probably be a three day deal, at least for me. One day out, one day for mini-show, one day back.

If everyone who's interested in participating could PM me what your availability (if you know what it is) I can start hoaning in on some dates. :)

How does sometime in March sound for everyone. I will be going to the NYC show, so it will have to be before or after that date.

March sounds perfect for me. I'll look up dates for the NY show and toss up some optional dates for the meet up. Anyone have a preference for what days during the week? I prefer Monday through Wednesday with a Tuesday mini show, but I'm flexible.
