that's a fascinating video, i cannot really really comment on the pressing section of the vid but the spinning is very interesting.
it seems to be the creation of a custom form turned to fit on a metal thread or collet, then re-applied to the lathe and the final form turned.
the form also functions as a jam chuck as the final stage shows that the tobacco chamber opening has been cut out.
i have never seen spinning done like that but it seems to work perfectly.

Re: more silver spinning
I believe Kurt did a Copper shank cap a while ago with the same method...but I'm not 100% sure..

kurt's post indicates that he used a form and separate clamp - the standard way
the peterson video is the first that i have seen that screws a clamp to the form

Re: more silver spinning
Sorry about that Dave, I interpreted the question as an interest in the spinning procedure as such.
Don't mind my previous comment and link in any other case.

Re: more silver spinning
He made that look soooo easy. I love silver capped pipes. Not only are they classy, but you don't need to worry about rim charring.
Re: more silver spinning
Oh man...I wish I hadn't seen that. Yet another thing I'm going to just have to try.
