Note: I only smoke tobacco, I don't even know if mushrooms are smoked...and I'm not interested in knowing...heehee!
I finally reached what I call my “Popeye Point” with this pipe.
That’s when I say, “That’s all I can SANDS and I can SANDS no more!”

And for those of you that might not be that familiar with Popeye, he would say some words to that effect, then he’d eat his spinach, blow some smoke out of his pipe and then go beat up a bunch of people, which brings up another aspect of this pipe that goes well beyond its beauty. This is the pipe that one wants to be smoking when down at docks in a really rough bar. When things start to go “down” all you have to do is make a simple flick of your wrist and it turns into a set of brass, well hard wooden, knuckles with hot embers on one end and an eye gouger on the other! Popeye would have been proud of this pipe!

Re: Smokin' Mushrooms
Dude, you're hilarious!
I do love me some Popeye. I spent many a childhood afternoon watching those cartoons.
Cool pipe, btw. I certainly wouldn't want to get into a fight with anyone, let alone Popeye, if they had that knuckle pipe handy!

Thanks...Glad you enjoyed it!...heehee!
BTW... the color contract is a bit sharp, but I only stained the top and after some smoking time the colors mello out a bit like on this one:
Before:

After:

Now on to my first "real" type pipe! This may be difficult with only a dremmel and a drill press with a 3" stroke...heehee...but it'll be fun trying!

Re: Smokin' Mushrooms
My first thought when seeing that pipe in your previous post was actually of heavy briar knuckles
Re: Smokin' Mushrooms
Oh...that isn't good! I hope the guys at the bar don't recognize it as a weapon...that might insight things!?!?JonBood wrote:My first thought when seeing that pipe in your previous post was actually of heavy briar knuckles
I ordered my next briar from Ginny (PIMO) for my first attempt at a "real" type pipe, but it won't ship till December 21st and, as I have heard, that's the day the world is suppose to end.....so, I might not get around to it.

Haha, I didn't mean it in a depreciative manner
It just reminded me of one; a very beautiful and original knuckles!
I actually think the idea is kick-ass!

Re: Smokin' Mushrooms
I got the briar I ordered yesterday, so I started to work on it before the world ends!
I was surprised that it arrived so early and then realized that I had read the date back-ass-ward, which I do some times…”to ship on Dec. 12”…not the 21. I was wondering why it would take so long, because PIMO has always been really fast.
So I started my first “real” type pipe. I decided to go with a “bent billiard”…I like smoking that type of pipe…but after I drilled it out, she (the briar) yelled at me, “Don’t touch me, I’m beautiful!” It is an odd shaped briar, which is no fault of PIMO, because I have always requested strange shaped briars for my freehand stuff and Ginny has taken a special effort to look for them for me and I didn’t mention I wanted a normal type briar this time. So, at the briars request (well, demand), I’m making a “freehand” out of “her” (and yes, all my briars are all women, like ships are name after women). So, I'll have to postphone making a "real" type pipe till my next briar, that's if we are here!
