"Duuuuuude that looks like a Sherlock!"

K, frustration time. Every time I show a non-pipe person one of my pieces they say one of two things "Woaaaah maaaaan! That's totally a Gandalf"! or, "Duuuuuuude that's a Sherlock maaaaaaaaan"!
In essence all my creativity and hard work has boiled down to my making Gandalfs and Sherlocks. Anybody else have that issue?

Yup. Most people who do not smoke a pipe or participate in the pipe community have very few frames of reference to relate to what you're making. They're just bringing up something that helps them relate to the work. Not a bad thing at all, but a good opportunity to educate those who are interested.
