colors are a bit weird together, but I was going for quirky. Stupid flaw on the shank.

well I suppose if one were to smoke to excess it would be a sin
"but what would be smoking to excess?"
Why smoking two pipes at once of course

Re: squashed tomato
Oh man! You should lop that shank off just before the flaw, add a couple of knuckles worth of bamboo, and you got yerself a world class pipe right there!
Cheers!

Re: squashed tomato
Damn, Rev! Where did this pipe come from? It's leaps and bounds above the last ones you posted. What a lovely piece.
Only thing I've got is this: I think giving the shank some curve would really make the pipe sing.
Other than that... holy shit you really stepped up your game. Great work!

Re: squashed tomato
it was drawn with curve to the stem

Re: squashed tomato
Great job there Rev! The finish looks sweet.
Rev says, "holy shit that is bitchen"
Re: squashed tomato
John, this is your best pipe by far. You have certainly come a long way.
Two comments, watch you symmetry, especially on the bowl. Your lathe will help in the future but only so much. Next I think the stem could lose a little weight. Focus on tapering toward the bit faster.
Excellent job.

Re: squashed tomato
Much better!
Just one small thing on top of what's already been said: the stem seems to be a bit crooked in relation to the top of bowl (2nd photo). Make sure it's straight before taking pics.

Re: squashed tomato
thanks everyone, and yeah that second picture is weird, I think maybe my photographer might have twisted the stem while trying to get it to stay on the shells, not sure.

Re: squashed tomato
well done rev... like others have already said, this pipe looks like a huge step up from your earlier work. whatever you are doing to learn and improve is working, keep heading in that direction!
