Using Fiebings on other Wood- Question

Hey guys, I have been making frames for paintings and just tried Fiebing's as my stain. Working with pine, by the way. I've applied one coat, let it sit for about eight hours and it looks great.

So here's my question. Is one coat enough? Or is there a reason, of which I am ignorant, that I should use multiple coats?

Cheers, TC

it brings out the grain..

undercoat.. black.. next coat black.. next some sort of brown

or red red light brown

or dark brown dark brown lighter color

you can mix and match.. just don't do black and yellow.. except in March ;-)
