right now I have two buffing motors that run at two speeds 1450 or 3600 I think I am using 6" buffing wheels at 1450 some day I want to switch to the beal system, would there be a need to change the buffing speed? and if so what speed should I be shooting for?

well i used to run 6" at 2000rpm ish. now I am on 12" and i run at about 1000ish for buffing and bit lower for waxing, but I have the luxury of a variable speed setup.

I'd say you should get the 8" beall wheels(max compound to appropriate wheel etc.) and run at 1400.
