I'm Getting a New Workshop!

Post by WCannoy »

Since I started the pipemaking operation back up last November, I've been doing half my work out of the back bedroom of my apartment, and running out to the detached garage where the big machines are to do the other half. I haven't had any complaints from the other tennants, and the apartment staff has looked the other way concerning my running of a woodworking business out of the apartment. But I still don't have the freedom to turn my workspace into exactly what I need, or to stay up too late running my machines, as I have been prone to do in the past!

Well, all that is about to change as we are closing on a house soon! While, technically, my worshop space will decrease in size overall, it will allow me the advantage of setting up everyting in a more permanent fashion, and getting my (now improvised) dust collection system set up better!

My new workshop will start out as this detached shed in the back yard:

It's gonna be cramped for a while, but I am looking forward to expanding it into exactly what I need in the future!!! I'm so excited! Woo-Hoo!!!

Tentative closing date: May 2nd... Yep, the day before I leave for the Chicago show. So, on top of crunching for Chicago, I gotta start packing too!

First order of business in the new workshop? Put in more windows! :D

I know, right? Pour a slab, frame some walls and trusses, deck it, dry it in, hang some drywall, finish inside and out... Badda-bing, badda-boom... Bigger shop!

Hell yeah, congrats dude. That Florida room is sweet.
I live in a condo and drive 25 miles to my shop, but one of these days I'll post pics of my badass new house too. :D

No worries, my man. I think it'd be cool to work in a huge space with that many windows... if only there were less humidity in that room. ;)

I'm house hunting for myself at the moment and a workshop/garage is second on the list of needs.

I'd love a pool though, just perfect for practicing Eskimo rolls.
