Pair of XL Stout Lovats

Post by PremalChheda »

Micah Redmond spent the week at my shop and we each made a stout Lovat. It was fun, and we both learned a few things.

Damn! Those are some fine lookin' pipes, guys. I had a lot of fun watching them come together on Instagram.

Great work, Micah! Keep it up!

What'd you two learn? That you're both rather good at making stout lovats?

These are darn pretty!

I finally met Premal at Chicago, and got to eyeball his stuff up close. Really close. Impressed was me. Technically, he kicks some serious ass. It is rare indeed that I can't find something a carver tried to accomplish and missed by a smidge somehow, somewhere, on a pipe... but that was indeed the situation with the specimens I saw. It was almost frustrating.

I learned a lot of skills that will help me become a much better pipe maker. I learned what the best pipe I've ever made looks like. I learned that Premal, Bill, and Benjamin at Smoker's Haven are awesome dudes. I learned that Premal and Bill are fantastic pipe makers. I can't thank Premal enough for his generosity with his time, knowledge, and everything else. I'm happy to call him friend and can't wait until my next trip to OH.

Seriously guys, whether its pipes, tobaccos, accessories, whatever, give Smokers' Haven at least some of your business. Those guys are what this hobby is all about.

Oh, and thanks for the compliments on the pipe! Premal helped reign in a significant amount of clumsiness on my part. Here's hoping I can keep the trend going in my own shop.
