Summer time blues

I am having a hard time, I really want to go into the shop and carve more pipes, but I love being outside so much that I cant seem to make myself go spend countless hours in the basement working on a pipe, and when it comes to working on a pipe a few hrs at a time, well that just doesnt work for me, I become obsessed that when I start working on a pipe I either work till it's done or until I can't see straight or my hands are too cramped to carry on.
any one else have this sort of problem?

I agree with phmann ..You are not the only one.. For guys like us that work underground without sun light is a problem . In the winter with rain it is perfect but on the sunny days i prefer the margarita and some vitamin D...with some sanding maybe..near the sea

Thank god my shop is on ground level with a window and a door onto our patio. nice weather = door open!

If I do small stuff like sanding, I also tend to move outside.

What would be cool is to have an outdoor workshop set up in such a way that you're warm and insulated in winter and in summer you can slide back all or some of the walls and have a breeze blow through and sunshine all around. I think it would be a lot of fun to design the Ultimate Workshop with features like that.

I've got 2 doors exactly on opposite sides of the shop. Seeing how small my shop is, that means I can "remove" half of 2 walls of my shop. Open up the window and I'm basicly outside

You just made my day.... My shop is on the bottom floor..with a huge window and a door that leads out to a front patio... Gotta love the way the Germans build their houses.

Take it outside to sand.. Even I do that.

on ground level, or in a garage would be nice, just open a door or a window and see smell that fresh air, I have future plans to build a nice big shed perhaps I should plan a little bigger and include a work shop!

I thought once about a prefab old german barn. with slab it would cost about six thousand dollars. You can get a house,barn,colonial, inside is big.At 66 I have to wonder, how long will I get to use it? Bad enough I bought a new lathe. It would be a perfect dream shop. Thats why the monicker, Pipedreamer, Especially on blue days.I just go and make more pipes.Practice, drill, rehearse. Look at other makers work and fall in love, again!!!

My shop is in the garage, open the door and the world is waiting, but today it was close to a 100 degrees, sanding dust and sweat turns to mud, especially when the wind s blowing 20 MPH. I usually try to work in the mornings, and spend the afternoons inside under the AC. Next week we head to the New Mexico mountains, where I will do my work on the deck and the temp will be in the low 80's, but with no shop, the hard parts have to ready to go with me when we leave.
