Construction has made a half-ass attempt to metricicize, but no one speaks of 19mm plywood, it's 3/4". Likewise it comes in 4x8 sheets.

Some cabinet makers use metric a lot and when you are dealing with things 2 feet and under it's actually much easier and more useful, and far fewer measuring errors occur.

Milk comes in liters, so does gas, but beer still comes as a pint. Paint comes as a gallon but they call it 3.78 L which is pretty gay.

Dirt comes in yards, but even if it came in meters no one would know because a pile of dirt is hard to measure.
That's messed up Todd. Messsssssssssed up. Wait a minute... is that somehow our fault too?

What my fellow Texians are trying to tell you Sas; if we saw some BS like that in our driveway, we'd lock the doors and live on chili and tacos til it all just went away.

In other words, one run to Taco Bell will last the 8 hours before the snow melts.

Unless you have a calibrated 5-yard container in your driveway to double check with.

I grew up in snow like that (Michigan). And while I don't miss it one bit, I do wish my kids could see what it's all about. That drift is a fort waiting to happen!

I guess I'm just a Michigan snow-bird that got stuck in the south. Should be mid 70's here today.

Hands and Stones ? Here in Texas, we used to measure in Cockes. Problem was, nobody could agree how long a cocke was.

I've never had cause to measure in hands, and we only weigh people in stones. ;)

Perhaps if you measured Cockes with Hands you might be able to determine something universal.

If I remember correctly, two Stones fit into one Hand. Are Hands smaller than Cockes then?

Tough to say. I'd say ideally theres 3 hands to a cocke.
I'd guess Sas' snow drift at about 4 cockes deep. But I wouldn't have a clue how long a canadian cocke is. Metrics always confuses me

The bag of milk here is actually 4 Liters divided by 3 smaller bags inside. And a metric dozen is just 10 + 2

Depends if that cocke is circumscribed. Math jokes are never funny.

I hereby submit this thread as proof positive that pipe carvers---especially Canuck ones---are, um, a bit... different. Yeah, that's the word. Different.

(And I'd have it no other way. 8) )

Carry on, you crazy bastards.

Are you saying that just because their cockes are metric ???
