Proper taper

Working on a Dublin churchwarden. Still have a little tweaking to do on the stummel, but I wanted to ask about the stem before I went any further. Should I start the taper at the stem shank junction, or wait until after the inlay rings? My first instinct is that it would look a bit weird with the rings included in the taper, but I'm not sure, so I figured I'd ask for some input. Thanks

The taper should actually start at the bowl/shank junction ever so slightly then when you get a little past the stem/shank junction is where the taper really gets deep.
