Re: Dublin
Harry, WTH! When did you get some skills?
Nice shape. Are you going to come to the March Meetup at my shop?

Re: Dublin
Harry,
Couple of things. First, very nice job shaping. It is a very graceful well executed design. From the top I keep wondering why the front is so much thinner than the back. Do you have access to a blaster, because those pits and dark spots really detract from such beautiful shaping. Finally, why call it a Dublin? To me that is 100% horn. I say that because of the lack of separation between the bowl and shank.
But like Premal said, leet skillz bro. She's definitely a looker.

Re: Dublin
Very nice shape. If the chamber drilling was centered and there weren't any pits this one would be outstanding. Only one other minor things I see that could be better is that there's still a slight bit of stem material that could come off on the underside towards the button and the seam between the shank adornment and the briar could be a bit tighter but it's really close. Nice job overall.

Re: Dublin
Too much bend in the stem.
Since there is so much meat at the back of the bowl, I would roll into the plateau and give it a soft aesthetic curve...............then blast!!!!!!

Re: Dublin
Maybe I'm drunk but I agree with Bruce.
Hadda happen sooner or later I guess!
One of the things that happens on a shape like this if you aren't REALLY careful is that if you keep the shank more or less a constant diameter (even through the curve) where it hits the stem it will look fat. The combination of the taper on the stem and the curves on the shank leave a pipe visually heavy right smack in the middle. This is probably accentuated by the blonde band on the stem. A touch more off the bottom line of the pipe right through from 1/2 along the shank to the stem would take care of it.
That's a decent pipe - don't despair over us finding 50 things wrong with it.

Re: Dublin
I think the stem is bent too much and the thickness of the backside of bowl is a little much. But still a very nice piece! Well done.

Okay, now I feel like you are screwing with us. One minute you don't know how to put a stem on a pipe. And now you think this one is over bent and there is too much meat on the back of the bowl???? I'm not trying to castigate you, but come on.....really????
BC, love the pipe, btw.
Am I Calamity Jane or Annie Oakley??...depends on the day.

I think its a nice pipe! If you don't mind me asking, in the last year or so how many pipes have you made? I am looking at your "1st try" post and it looks like you have improved quite a bit since then!

Re: Dublin
I agree with Sas about the slight "belly" on the underside of the shank, and with Wayne about excess material behind the button on the bottom.
It also appears that the crease itself behind the button isn't polished. (someday I'll have to make a video about how to do that )
As for bent too much, that depends on what you were going for. If it was the older, early 20th century aesthetic, you flat-out nailed it. If the Danish modern one, it's a bit severe.
Props for achieving a smooth, even bend on a thick stem, though, regardless of anything else. It's tricky, and rarely done as well as you did it.

Re: Dublin
You are gaining momentum.Keep improving,You are getting better with every pipe you make. The others have pointed out what needs attention.Visualize the lines, cuts etc. before doing same.It may help you achieve your goals.
Re: Dublin
Nice job. FWIW, I won't critique a pipe I can't make. lol. Congrats on making 30 pipes.
