Hi all,As a maker who doesn't use spoon bits I am familiar with them. That being said I have seen them advertised
(A la carte)in various sizes.I was under the impression that to use these that it was a step up process or can these be used one and done?Wouldn't want to hold stummel drilling 7/8"hole

Pilot hole about 1/4 inch or so is all you need.

I like the pilot 5/32, 3/8, modified 1/2(I ground it to a tapered point, and made sure it wasn't sharp enough to grab the briar, just ream), then follow that with an 18 or 19mm spoon bit. If I want to drill larger, it's easily done by just reaming up to the next sized bit.
