Re: Candy
German made instead of chinese made clones. PM's are good, but they are just same generic lathes that hundreds companies sell under different brand names. Knuth's are a little overkill for pipe making. I would also go for the PM over these.baweaverpipes wrote:Look like Precision Matthews to me, but with a higher price tag.

Re: Candy
German made goods versus Chinese is like comparing Neiman-Marcus to Wal-Mart!
If I had the $, I would go with the Knuth..............just to be a snob.

Re: Candy
I don't have the funds to go for the Knuth unfortunately so Chinese make for me.

Re: Candy
Apparently not. The company started out as German (but EAST German, not West, which was a significant distinction back in the day---West Germany's goods were among the best in the world, while East Germany made only "Soviet Union quality" stuff), but now Knuth is just a corporate umbrella/nameplate for machines that can be made anywhere in the world, one contract at a time.PremalChheda wrote:

Dammit I wish you guys would stop talking about and showing pictures of Myford Super 7s. I have a really bad case of lathe envy and you're not helping one bit.
