Howdy everyone!
Seems an appropriate greeting from someone residing deep in the heart of Texas... pretty darn close to Austin actually.
Started pipe smoking (again) awhile back. One night I was out on the back deck smoking, solving the world's problems when I thought "How hard could it be to make a pipe?" So started the journey...
I promptly started gathering the tools, bits and pieces, knowledge and went to work. After blood, sweat, tears, early mornings, smoking, spending money, late nights, light drinking, all nighters, heavy drinking (with heavy smoking of course), spending more money, and enduring countless interruptions from things like my day job and my significant-other ( read The Real Boss), I thus far completed two pipes. Both are Danish freehand style, as that is what I lean towards.
I will try to get some good pictures of those for ya to look at a little later.
So, here I sit cruising the forum, expecting a big'o box of briar in the next day or two so I can start paying my dues, making the more classical shapes of pipes to progress in my pipe making endeavor.
Anyway, enough about me. One other thing I want to say.
I want to thank everyone here who shares their opinions and knowledge. It is a invaluable "goto" source when you need to learn and/or just answer a question. One day I hope to be able to significantly contribute to the knowledge base. In the mean time, I can sure throw in my "two cents worth".
Roger
