due to some quirks in the rubber industry, NYH has discontinued some colors and are trying new pigments to obtain new cumberland colors. At present they offer black/red, black/purple and black/turquoise and they will soon finish the tests with black/orange. Here's a pic of the new purple. I hope to have some in stock toward the end of August or beginning of September. I'll probably get 18mm and 22mm, your thoughts?

Nope, definitely not going to use black/purple, not my thing, the tone is too sharp imho.

I would really be interested in some nice solid colors, orange or some shades of brown, or an orange/brown swirl... more in a natural wood color palette. I wonder why they don't make them.
Something I have observed is that ebonite making must be a kind of alchemy if the biggest producers in the world still haven't really nailed a foolproof method for consistent quality...

I want!

I saw one of Nate's pipes with a similar purple. It was a subtle and really cool touch!

I might try the purple, but I would be more interested in the black/orange. I agree I would like to see the solid colors that some pipe makes use. Red Navy and green for example.

I too hope to see some solid colors and other cumberland colors come out of NYH. They seem a little slow in the process of "finding the right pigments", but they're getting there. I'll see what they have in their plans for solid colors.

I have the orange/black currently in 16mm, but thats the only size.

16mm is just a little too small for me most of the time. 18 is just right for most pipes that I make. I'll have to grab some of those green and blue Cumberland rods on my next order

That purple looks pink on my monitor. What does it look like in person, Steve? I'd definitely be interested in black/orange in 18mm and 22mm. I'd also be interested in 24mm if you ever have it.

yeah looks more like a lavender, but I would recon they have to use a lighter purple so there would be contrast if it were too violet it would be hardly noticable, but that might be cool too

I'm not sure how it looks in person, but their photos are usualy pretty accurate, it's a light purple, or a dark lavender
