Re: brass on shank
I'm gonna be weird (weird) and say I like the half saddle, it gives it a nice twist... or maybe I just like half saddles. Great looking pipe, I love brass.

Re: the progression of pipemaking
I'm still very much a noobie - but it seems to me that the first three should be: Blobs-> Pokers-> Billiards-> My reasoning is - a cylinder that's not a cylinder might be easier to see for the beginning pipemaker than a roundish shape that isn't the right roundish shape. They can improve their contr...

Re: Sitter Cutty Shaping
Thanks so much! - I hadn't thought of moving the stem taper back. The pipe is chunky and actually my fear on this one is - I love the way it sits currently and will probably lose that when I remove more meat - although if I do so on the stem too, maybe not. I'll keep filing. Thanks again!

Sitter Cutty Shaping
I've decided to start posting all my pieces, even if they are embarrassing. The intense critique and feedback will help me improve. Thanks in advance! Before I get much further, I wanted to post what I've done so far so I can implement corrections etc. Sorry about the horrible lighting in these pics...

I love it! - And can totally relate re:sticking w/ one or two shapes etc.
I ALWAYS seem to come back to cutties and pickaxes (well inspired by those shapes).

Re: Jaws For Holding Briar in Your Chuck!
I got jaws like this they are awesome! My only feedback is - would be nice to have grip pattern on the other side too so you could turn em around for small blocks - like pen blanks, stem material etc.
