Would an O-ring have the same effect? I've seen some people do that, and what did you mean by thick on the sides?
Thanks,
Steve

Freehand #8
So I tried to carry over most of the advice given to me from my last freehand, and I'm probably gonna be practicing on this shape style for a bit because I really enjoy pipes wiht negative space. But any way, here's another try at a reverse calabash using the advice given: http://i.imgur.com/sM16FiP...

Re: Freehand (#7)
I've edited the first pic with finished pics of the pipe. I'm trying to work out the issue I have with the facets, and I think the next pipe will have remedied this problem. And I bent the stem, and drilled the chamber deeper upon request. As far as the style of stem, I actually really like the abru...

Freehand (#7)
So pipe #7. It's a reverse calabash. And it's currently in a WIP state because I'm still waiting on my other fiebings colors to get here (Yellow/orange) Again I know freehands are hard to critique, but if there's any advice you can give on the shaping/lines/etc. let me know. Things open for change: ...

Re: Freehand.
Not gonna lie, my first pipe looked pretty phallic. Completely unintentional. And thanks for the advice so far, and to reply to it in kind: D.Huber: I completely agree with all you pointed out here. There's something about the stem that just didn't quite sit right with me too, it probably is the ang...

I don't actually know what to say here. It's my 5th pipe, and the one I feel best about so far. And I figure pictures say more then words so I'll let them speak for themselves: http://i.imgur.com/HFqMFQvl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ijJuFlbl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/G0yUWxxl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/VY5vNkql...

Hello, New guy.
Hey everyone, I found this is the intro part of the forum. The names Steve, and I've been doing miscellaneous wood working/prop artistry for about 12ish years now and I've recently taken up pipe making. Unfortunately I'm one of those lost causes who doesn't really enjoy making standard pipes, and am...
