Re: spoon-bits.com
If the bits that Steve sells (or sold) are Dimitri's bits, I have several and use them almost exclusively and have been for two or three years now. I think they perform better than any of the other spoon bits I've tried and I have several from different folks. S&D bits are still the best but no...

Re: spoon-bits.com
It's a hard steel as is (18 Rockwell C- hardness). I don't think you'll have any problems. How many pipes per year can somebody make?caskwith wrote:Thank you for the response. What type of tool steel are you using?
If we harden it, can go above 60Rc. You can cut metal with that. Do you really need it?

Re: spoon-bits.com
Are these bits hardened? Sorry for the late response. Yes, It can be done, but it will take some time (7-10 days extra) plus 20 Euros. Plus: It will last longer. Minus: if you drop it you lost it. Tool holding. You will need a collet holder, it's a bit dangerous. Extremely difficult if not impossib...

Re: spoon-bits.com
I can see the advantage of having the extra angle on your spherical bits compared to others that have been made throughout the years. However on the parabolic/tapered nose ones, the area that is angled on the face is much smaller and I am guessing the advantage is not there versus the other spoon b...
