Re: Half Bent Rhodesian
Use a grinder to carefully take the edges of the stamp that is around the letter or number off. Also use some electrical tape to line up your stamps. It will help make your stamping more consistent.wdteipen wrote:Stamping still sucks.

Shitty!
When your still learning every thing you do, including making stems is worth the effort. Practice makes perfect and all that.

I will drill my bowl with a 5/16 pilot then drill with a 9/16 spoon bit then my final drill 3/4. For me drilling from a pilot to a final diameter is a pain in the ass.

Re: Ex-Cigar Smoker-Pipe Tobacco Suggestions?
If you know anyone who lives in Belgium ask them to send you some semois. It is by far the most cigarish tasting pipe tobacco I have ever had. It is one of my favs but is extremly strong and after about 1/4 bowl I'm spinning from the nicotine.

How many pipes did you make this year?
This past year has been my first full year working solely as a pipemaker. I started thinking how many pipes I have made and sold. As of right now, I'm at 93. I might try to squeeze out 1 or 2 more.
How many pipes did you make in '09?

The maker is Michail Revyagin, he is one of Russias' best IMO, here is his site http://www.mrpipes.ru/bikedoctor wrote:I hadn't seen this one posted so forgive me. Sometimes I think I'm limited by my lack of equipment. This really helped.

Re: Spoon bits -- is there something I'm missing?
Profiling drill bits with out the proper tooling is a real pain in the ass. Ken has the CNC tooling needed to make a bit the right way. I wouldnt even try to do it myself( a good 3/4 bit isnt cheap). Here is his site, http://www.lambpipes.com/pipemakingtools.htm

I did when I first started making pipes, imagine trying to cut a block of briar with a butter knife...it takes FOREVER to cut.

I was thinking the same thing Kurt. Also I thing around the shank and the logo block, a gem setting bit may have been used for more detail.

Re: cleaning help needed
I'm pretty sure Camenetto did a very thin layer of schelac on their rustications. It will apprear as a weird green mold color if you get alcohol on it. Using a tooth brush and more alcohol you can scrub the rest of the crap off of it. Wait for the pipe to dry out a bit(stain the pipe at this point.....
