Once again my curiosity makes me look foolish and perhaps naive.... But what do y'all do with a bit that big? I'm not sure my creative faculties can imagine a element of the pipemaking which uses a one and a half inch bit. I admit I am relatively inexperienced after all ..... or am i reading 1.5&quo...

Does anyone ever use coloured epoxy? I understand that you can get dye for epoxy to make a durable fill, although i must admit i have never done it. I have seen nearly invisible fills done with this method on a gun stock however. Personally i almost always leave my imperfections on my pipes. The maj...

sanding
I think that my sanding is pretty good. Right now i am only sanding to 600, but I spend at least a couple of hours sanding the stummel. And I Buff quite thoroughly. I am wondering if i am overloading the wax tho. I ususally touch the caranuba to the wheel just until i smell it. Is it possible that i...

Struggle with even coat of caranuba
It seems that this topic of how to apply a caranuba finish is one that y'all might be tired of answering. But I just cant seem to get it right. Every pipe that i wax appears uniformly shiny at first but after handling for even a few minutes it becomes apparent that i have a very uneven coat. It is p...

filter inserts... What do I need, and How
I was looking at a Brigam Pipe today at the local tobaccionist, and it had a nice little bamboo filter setup. At least i think that is what it had. I can buy the filter inserts at any tobacco shop, but I am wondering how to make a pipe that will accept filters. I didnt look at it long enough to figu...

apple
Ive made several out of applewood. They have a tendency to burn out as well. However. A neat thing that i've gotten into is lining the bowl with wall grout. It doesnt shrink when it dries or interact with heat. Its worked for me

hmmm....
My favorite pipe, the one i smoke the most... ya i made the bowl out of cocobolo. It smokes unbelievably nicely. I did have som problem with the burning following some cracks in the wood (as it is in my experience by nature prone to hairline cracks) However it did not progress far, and now is satisf...
