Ernie,

Just curious as to why you aren't a fan of SEM. Do you prefer NYH or someone else entirely?

Re: Chamber bit woes!

That said, 900 RPM is faster than I wold feel comfortable drilling. Can you go any lower? Are you drilling on a lathe, a drill press, or something else? I am drilling on a drill press. The next lowest setting it has is 500 RPM. Is that a reasonable speed? I bought the S&D bits so that I could s...

I was actually using my last standared tapered stem for this pipe and then I accidentally broke the tenon while turning it on the lathe :banghead:....

Chamber bit woes!

Hey, all How has your experience been with Ken Lamb's Spoon and S&D bits and Trent Rudat's S&D bits? I recently bought two 3/4" S&D bits from Trent. One was a round point and the other conical. I was really excited when I receievd them... until I looked them over carefully. Trent to...

First Cherrywood and Blowfish

Hello all, Started pipe making almost a year ago now, and was active in the forums under a different username. I wish I had kept up with posting pictures of my finished pipes, but I will strive to do that from now on. The wealth of knowledge and generosity on this forum is invaluable to a new pipe m...

Stem Rod Diameters?

Hello all, What diameter do you usually buy your rod stock in? 18mm? 20mm? 22mmm, 25mm? It looks to me like 22mm is wide enough for just about 99% of pipe stems one would make. But from your experience have you guys found either the 18mm or the 22mm diameters to be wide enough to make a wide variety...
