Re: Sanding Wheel
Ah, wonderful. That's good to know. It's always interesting to see what custom tools makers come up with to make their job easier.

Sanding Wheel
Does anyone have any idea what he is using? Is this some other type of French wheel setup? It looks a little more convex than most I have seen. Thanks.

Sharpening PIMO Spade bit.
Does anyone have a good tutorial on how to sharpen a spade bit from PIMO? I'm not quite sure which part to put a file to.
Thanks,
Chris

Re: 2014 Chattanooga Pipe Show
I just heard that the 2014 Chattanooga Pipe Show was canceled for September 27th. Hopefully they can have it on another date. I think it has the potential to grow into a really good show if enough people go to it.

Alabaster Pipes
Has anyone ever used alabaster in pipe making before? I have seen some Native American peace pipes that have alabaster bowls on them, but never in a traditional pipe. I was just wondering, thanks for any feedback.

Re: Groomsmen Gifts help
Thanks for all of the suggestions! I went to my local cigar/pipe shop called Burns' Tobacconist and checkout what they had. I looked at some nice pipe lighters, but nothing really jumped out at me. I would have loved to make them all a personal pipe, but like I said before, I'm out of time. I ended ...

Groomsmen Gifts help
I am getting married in 3 weeks, and I have been trying to find something for my groomsmen. I don't want to get something corney; it needs to be something they can use and will use. The good part is that they all smoke a pipe, so I can buy them the same thing and it will work. I had though about mak...

Re: Centering on a 4 jaw
All I can say, is you need to have a lot of patience. I have an independant 4-jaw chuck that I use to turn my bowls and shanks down with. I have removed one of the jaws to allow my briar block to fit in there. It usually takes a while to center the block up. I also have a 3-jaw self centering chuck ...

Re: First picture post on here.
It is a helmet they sell for automotive racing. The pipe is kind of dark, I agree. I had a nice Orange swirl acrylic stem that I was making for it, but my 1/16" drill bit thought it would be a great idea to break off inside of the actylic whlie I was drilling it. So I went with a cumberland stem...

First picture post on here.
I finally mustered up enough courage to post some pictures of one of my pipes. The picture quality is not the best, so ya'll will just have to bear with me. I made this pipe for my brother and tried my best to make this pipe look like a Simpson Racing Helmet. My brother is really big into drag racin...

Best tobacco for the Fall
Alright. It's nearing fall of the year and I am looking for some good tobacco. Sort of the Octoberfest of tobaccos if you will, an octoberfest tobacco to go with my octoberfest Samual Adams. I have my Christmas blend, but I need something before that. Do y'all have any suggestions? I searched tobacc...

Re: "Brindle" stem material
What is cumberland? Is it a type of ebonite? All I see on PME's is that blue and black swirl. Where is a good place to get the brown and black cumberland?

What is brindle, and where can I buy some of this material? I have seen these types of stems and they are beautiful. Thanks

Spanish Cedar and pipes
If I were to line a pipe cabinet with Spanish cedar, or make a box to hold my pipes in out of Spanish cedar, will that affect the taste of the pipe? Will it hinder it, help it, or do anything at all? I am mainly doing it just for the nice smell of spanish cedar, not really to keep the pipes humidifi...
