Does woodburning work on briar?

Post by NathanA »

I have a friend who wants a lightning bolt design on a canadian so it looks like the Wonderboy bat from "The Natural". Sounds cheesy to me, but I guess if the pipe is paid for before I even start I shouldn't complain. Anybody have any experience or tips for burning briar?

Briar will burn dark brown or black, but does take a lot of heat. I have a brass stamp that says "Proudly Manufactured by Hand in the Production Shop of Todd Bannard" and I have to heat the shit out of it to get it to burn briar. The downside is that on any but the flattest of surfaces my burned stamp reads "Pr a u H annard" which is not all that flashy.
