Below are pictures I took in the fall 2003 when Erik Nording visited the cigar & pipe shop I was working at. He brought some of his pipe shaping equipment with him from Denmark and shaped & finished pipes in the store. Overall it was a pretty cool experience, since Erik is quite the character. He was a devoted workaholic speaking little while working, but when talking with customers he was a riot. It is not very often you get to hangout all day with one of your favorite pipe makers.

His portable setup is better than my permanent one. Damn!

And what is that dremel-ish looking thing with super comfortable tiny handpiece and flexible cord? Is that an air powered rotary tool?

Almost looks like a woodburner.KurtHuhn wrote:And what is that dremel-ish looking thing with super comfortable tiny handpiece and flexible cord? Is that an air powered rotary tool?

It is a wood burner. Erik used it to sign and date pipes for customers.BeatusLiebowitz wrote:Almost looks like a woodburner.
His shaping & finishing wheel was designed and constructed by Erik. In his life before pipe making, Erik was an electric engineer. When he started making pipes, he didn't like the shaping tools available on the market so he made his own. Erik did say he would never bring the tool with him ever again since it weigh too much and caused problem in customs.

Very cool indeed! Good photos! I wouldn't mind having some of his Player's Navy Cut De Luxe!
