pipe in the hat trade?
Hey kurt, any plans for a PITH this year? I would like to participate before i destroy whats left of my briar supply. I watched the last few, and it looks like a lot of fun.
Re: pipe in the hat trade?
I'll second that.
What are we doing for PITH this year?
Since we are having a Billiard contest, maybe we should choose another family for PITH.
I propose that we all make a pipe in the Rhodesian family.

I'm up for this. Last PITH was a tribute to a maker, so perhaps we should do something a little more... sane?
I propose a theme of "English Classics - excepting the billiard". Sounds like Rhodesian or Bulldog to me.

And I promise not to back out this year.

I think I may be able to get in on this one. Making pipes Like Walle right?
Kidding, I'd love to take a crack at it.

I'm in. Bulldogs and Rhodesians sound good to me, I've only done one Rhodesian, so it should be a helpful enterprise. Any thoughts on a deadline?

I've actually got a back log of orders
believe it or not, so I would vote for the deadline to be later rather than sooner.

Can anyone get in on this, or do you have to be "good" at making pipes? I'm sitting here trying to figure out what I should make next.

PITHs have always been open to everyone in the past, the idea being that it's a good way for us less experienced guys to learn, practice, and challenge ourselves. It's a good time.

Awesome. I'm in!

Depending on deadline (and permission for us Euro-guys to join), count me in.
I have yet to make my first bulldog, so it sounds like a good challenge to me.

If the deadline is after Christmas, I'm in.

Re: pipe in the hat trade?
It's been months since I have made a short ugly bulldog. cant wait! So is the choice up to the carver, or are we narrowing it down to one shape?
Re: pipe in the hat trade?
I really enjoyed the PITH last year, and am definitely in this year. I haven't made a bulldog, but was considering making one, so this is good timing.
Re: pipe in the hat trade?
Hallo Pipemakers,
I have never made a Bulldog, so a good opportunity. However, I am not sure whether I create it from the time. When would be deadline?
Greatings from the cold Graz ... brrrrrrr ... very cold ... not good for me.

I've wanted to make a bulldog for some time now so this fits perfectly. I'm in.

Re: pipe in the hat trade?
The last PITH we did had a lot of participation, and went very, very well. I'd like to see a lot of members join this one as well, so lets push the due date out so the true beginners aren't feeling rushed. How does everyone feel about the end of February?
And I think a Bulldog is a great theme. It might require some creative thinking for folks without a lathe, but a lot guys in the past have come up with cool ideas to cut the rings without a lathe. Feel free to ask if you're in doubt.
And actually, I think we could extend the theme to Rhodesians as well. Any opinions on that?

Feb works for me. A bulldog was going to be my next anyway so this will work out great.
