Well I got some more briar kits in since I don't have my lathe yet (that will be fixed tomorrow) and I decided to make another poker because I still haven't fixed the problems I was doing on the previous two. I also was going to make a volcano. The beginning stages of the volcano started well but I soon realized that this block was not NEAR big enough for this shape so I switched to a bent billiard. I already didn't have much meat to work with at the bottom of the bowl so I ended up sanding right into the bowl trying to shape it out. I felt like an idiot! Also my other poker isn't looking to great either. I was doing so well with my first two and now it seems like I've gone to the dogs lol.
On top of all that I went through two Ebonite hand-cut stems that Tyler made up for me. After that fiasco I decided to just buy a saddle from PE and fit it and move on. Well I didn't realize is that they sold them by the dozen so I ordered what I thought was one single and got 12 LOL.
So one briar block ruined, 11 more stems than I needed and 2 Ebonite stems destroyed later I am still 1 pipe finished and 1 half done haha. And I've had the flu all week. I have so much to learn...Lets hope December brings a more successful and enjoyable experience

Anyone else have a humbling experience to share?
